Haaland derby winner stands despite Enzo Fernández offside
Sunday, 13 September 2026 · 2026-27 · 60'
What happened
Erling Haaland tapped in Joško Gvardiol's deflected cross at the far post. The assistant flagged, but after a long check VAR Matt Donohue overturned it, judging that Enzo Fernández, who was in an offside position in front of goal and lunged at the cross, had not affected Lisandro Martínez. It was the only goal of the game, scored by ten-man City at Old Trafford. Pro Ref admitted the error the same day.

- Donohue was also left out of that week's Carabao Cup appointments.
- City moved onto maximum points after four games. United sat 13th.
